Clinical Research Opportunities

Living with Osteoporosis?

Researchers in the Miami area are looking for postmenopausal women ages 50 to 70 with osteoporosis to take part in an upcoming research study of an investigational medication. Women who previously took alendronate (Fosamax) for at least 3 years, as well as women who have never been treated for osteoporosis, may be eligible. This study is for women who have taken alendronate in the past. Do not stop or change any medication to take part.

The study is expected to last about 6 months after screening, at a research clinic in Miami. It includes up to two clinic stays of about 9 nights each, about a month apart, plus about 15 shorter outpatient visits for blood draws and check-ups. The study medication is given as an injection under the skin of the abdomen. This study is in the planning stages; compensation for time and travel is estimated: $7,000+ for completing the study.
